What is MEDLIFE?

MEDLIFE (Medicine, Education, and Development for Low Income Families Everywhere) is a non-profit organization that partners with low-income communities in Latin America and Africa to improve access to medicine, education, and community development projects. Each school chapter works to support MEDLIFE's mission of improving access to health care, education, and creating long-term solutions to these problems while empowering students to become advocates for change. In addition to supporting communities abroad, the USC MEDLIFE chapter also serves the local Los Angeles community through volunteering with organizations including Water Drop LA, the Midnight Mission, and Keck Street Medicine.

SERVICE LEARNING TRIPS

In addition to volunteering locally, we provide members with the opportunity to go on a Service Learning Trip (SLT) abroad. An SLT is a week-long educational journey where volunteers work with a local community on a development project, mobile medical clinics, and more. These trips not only allow volunteers to understand the realities that many low-income communities face, but also to personally connect with the communities that MEDLIFE supports.

LOCAL INVOLVEMENT

MEDLIFE at USC works hand in hand with local Los Angeles organizations to give back to and support our community. We recognize that at USC, we hold a great privilege to be studying at this institution as well as our presence within the LA community. As such, we make it part of our mission to give back to our community by volunteering with organizations like Water Drop LA, the St. Francis Center, Keck Street Medicine, and more. Together, we can provide support and become advocates for change.

COMMUNITY AND SOCIALS

Our chapter aims to foster a tight-knit community of individuals who are passionate about medicine, service, and advocacy. Through the implementation of our big-little program in 2024, we hope to further allow our community to expand and become more tight-knit. MEDLIFE at USC is a warm and welcoming community where you will find support on your pre-health journey through like-minded individuals also interested in making an impact.

HEAR FROM OUR MEMBERS

"MEDLIFE offers a wide range of opportunities to not only learn about prevalent issues in the field of health, but also to get hands-on involvement with the local Los Angeles community. From fundraising events to retreats, MEDLIFE encourages its members to be proactive agents of change on and off USC’s campus."
